The Plain Jane

Chance upon this cafe in one of the links shared by my friend on Facebook last year and didn’t know there’s actually another cafe so near to me. It is located right opposite Serangoon Stadium and Swimming Complex, which is around 10 mins walk from Serangoon MRT. The place is pretty cosy and great for afternoon tea.

This was taken last year during our first visit to The Plain Jane. We had three different flavour Swiss Rolls, a cup of Hot Mocha and Honey Lemon.

My usual for most of the cafes - Mocha. It tastes good and nice foam art too!

I had Nutella flavour Swiss Roll on the first visit but wasn’t a big fan of it as there wasn’t much Nutella taste.

So I went to the cafe again this Chinese New Year where I was recommended to try the original flavour - The Plain Swiss Roll, and it’s definitely the right choice.

The Swiss Roll tasted nothing like Polar’s and I’m impressed. Had a small chat with the lady, and to my surprise that they didn’t use Vanilla Essence in their cream, and yet the Plain Swiss Roll still smell so fragrant. And they use fresh and good quality dairy cream like those in Japan and Taiwan. The texture of it will leave you wanting for more.

The real sexy one is this Meringue Roll! Their in-house Meringue Roll is made with only egg white and needs to set it overnight but to be consumed by the very next day. The strawberry and raspberry jam are also homemade by the Chef. And I have never craved Swiss rolls this much.

With hearty ambience and service, The Plain Jane is a great hangout place with family and friends for nice afternoon tea. x
